The plan of the lesson

3. The theme of our lesson is “People”. We are going to revise all you know about people, their appearances, clothes, listen to an audio cassette, watch an episode from a video film. (I’d like three pupils to come to the blackboard. Here I’ve got three police posters. Your task is to complete the gaps and then read them to the class. Enclosure 1). First, please, answer my questions.

1. What shapes our personality: our genes or the environment?

2. Do you believe in horoscopes? Can our date of birth influence our character?

3. Does changing of our appearance (hairstyle, clothes) change our personality as well?

4. Would you ever consider having plastic surgery? Why? Why not?

5. Would you agree to have a heart transplant? Can having another person’s heart change your identity?

6. 6. Does our nationality determine the way we think and act? In what way?

3. Foreigners have many ideas about what the English are like. Now let’s read the text about some views on the English character. (Enclosure 2).

4. Listening comprehension. You see there are a lot of similarities between the Russians and the English. And you know we all like gossiping, especially about our classmates. Take the papers with the tasks, look through them and listen to the text. (Enclosure 3).

5. Work on the video film. You see, it is very important how people can communicate in different situations and with different people. The way you dress can also affect how people react to you. You will watch the film and at the same time you will work on the first task in your paper. Before you start watching the film read the instructions. You have only half a minute to do it. (Enclosure 4).

6. Speaking. Today we’ve discussed a lot about person’s character, style, communication skills and even fashion. Let’s make a summary of this topic. Everyone should make up only one sentence. But don’t repeat the sentences of your classmates.

The end of the lesson. The teacher thanks the pupils for the work and gives the home task to write an essay “Clothes do not make the man”.
